New Weight Management Medication
Not Yet Available in Dorset
Please note that GP practices in Dorset including Stour surgery are not yet set up to provide the new weight management medication, Tirzepatide (brand name Mounjaro®), which is due to become available nationally on the NHS from 23 June 2025.
Around 1,000 people in Dorset are expected to meet the national eligibility criteria for this treatment. However, local access will not be in place until later this year (autumn).
NHS Dorset is working to commission a local service over the summer, with the aim of making the medication available later in 2025.
